A Spoken Word Poem By: Emeline Gillett
I’m living in a world of mystery and wonder
Where the actions of man will strike you like thunder
And the lack of actions of man sentence us guilty of blunder
Man I wonder
I wonder when we’ll stop letting them plunder
Plunder The life in our souls
The critical in our thinking
The belief in our goals
Transfusing the toxins of media into our thoughts now our minds are shrinking
Constantly feeling like we’re sinking, in a man-made sea
So Yeah consider yourself the Debris
I’m Living in a world where technologies so advanced they made slave chains invisible
Where the only connection to human beings are on screens that are audio visual
Dehumanizing mankind now we’re unkind
Afraid to deal with what we feel so we use social media to hide behind
Purchasing drones like smart phones
Cause we’re not violated enough of our privacy
I’m Living in a world of human races
Where it seems like some races act as if they have Superior tattood on their faces
Talk about a Racist
Where the deaths of black men lie dormant
Consider them unfinished cases
They ignore your protests like you ignore a homeless man on the street
They train you to think that paper is the only way to get something to eat
4G Sending radiation through your house
The one your soul lives in
Nothing will get better unless you open your mouth
I'm living in a world where 3 year old’s are sent into sex trafficking
And sometimes their sold by their own mothers
I live in a world where we don’t treat each other like sisters and brothers
And love is confused with lust
We must fix these things we must
But we wait so long and these situations start to rust
I’m living in a world that allows the government to break all of the rules
Breeding a nation of zombies in our schools
Shaping our minds and setting them to SURVIVE
And now struggle is the norm
Where going to work makes you come home worn and torn
then turn on the news and make you panic
Man all of this shit is satanic
I’m living in a world where some of us fight for others to understand
That we do not have to continue to obey the man
Because the uprising of individuals was also written in this malicious plan
Our January 2019 newsletter included inspirational words from the writings of Fauzia Burke, who encourages us to live boldly and take risks; Maryanne Williamson on confronting our deepest fear; and Stacy Michelle on taking a leap of faith; not to mention a call-out to Michelle Obama as a woman of worth. I met Sadé E. Moore when I was a dance teacher at a wonderful organization called Kittsville; founded by the legendary Eartha Kitt. I had such a desire to learn, grow and help others. I immediately sensed the same in her, and as she would later point out: I leaned in and said “ I want to help you.” I could see and feel her pure essence, enormous talent and truth seeking soul.
The definition of truth seeker is: one who goes on a quest of truth.
Going on the journey, the quest, if you will, to find ones truth…..ones whole……ones healing and true peace is not for the faint of heart. In our modern society most want quick fixes, surface relationships (including the one with self), material things and fun. We want to fit in and are bombarded with too much information and social media images that show perfect lives. There is no such thing as perfect. No such thing as THE truth. However, there is peace. There is important. You are important. YOUR truth is important.
Sadé's book, Soul Manifesto, is a partner, a tool, another “way” as you go on your quest to manifest a beautiful soul and find your truth. Truth can be scary and uncomfortable and in order find it you must be willing to open yourself up to a different road/thought/concept that may be non - traditional, off the beacon path. You must be willing to be alone where few dare go……..INSIDE. Soul Manifesto gives you a holistic practical formula on your quest of truth, health and healing by using your miraculous CHAKRAS, the yin/yang of YOGA, food as medicine toward NUTRITION as well as MANIFESTO through writing. There are other clever, fun and easy to digest exercises and challenges as well. ALL of them, together, are a powerful recipe toward self-discovery, truth, healing and ultimately a path toward peace.
Sometimes, you have to be willing to leave home, go against popular/modern culture, not do what is expected, go at it alone and be uncomfortable as well as make others uncomfortable in order to find YOUR truth and help your soul manifest. KNOW you will survive it. You will find your way back home. Home is a state of being. It is where you are prepared, nurtured, seen and supported. Build your own home. From the inside out.
The author and I had to leave each other in order to come full circle back “home.” A place where a strong, well rounded, extraordinary foundation was laid. A daughter has come back to lay bricks on the “lighthouse” that invests in the souls of thousands and where she and they may forever reside.
